On the air with J. W. Addison

J. W. was born in Russell County, Virginia. He graduated from Lebanon High School and attended college in Wilson, North Carolina and then served four years in the US Air Force. J. W. worked with Grand Ole Opry star Charlie Walker, who at the time was a DJ on KTSA radio in San Antonio, Texas. He soon moved to Sweetwater, Texas and formed his own band called The Texas Ramblers. They played many music shows including opening for Little Jimmy Dickens, Carl Smith, Red Sovine, Bob Luman, and the late Johnny Horton.
After returning to the Virginia area, J. W. worked for Appalachian Electric Power Company and soon joined the management program at Sears. During his sales management career, he played music for many Sears sales promotions and new store openings. He retired from Sears in 1992.
J. W. and his wife Perry currently have a Country Music Revival Show on WOPI every Saturday, noon to 7PM. In addition, J. W. performs with the Blue Country Band throughout southwest Virginia.
